"There are days I may not have food on my plate, but I ensure none of my kids starve."
— Pooja Rani, Dog Mother
Meet Pooja Rani —
The Dog Mother
In a world that often turns its back on the helpless, Pooja Rani chose a different path. Working at a hospital, she witnessed pet owners abandon their sick animals without a second thought. Her heart broke — and then it opened wide.
She started with just 30–35 dogs at her home. When neighbours complained, she didn't give up — she moved to Khasi Kalan village on Tajpur Road, Ludhiana, and built a sanctuary from scratch. That was 13 years ago.
Today, Pooja is the guardian of over 500 dogs and cats, including 50+ paralyzed dogs, motherless puppies, sick and injured strays, and animals abandoned by their owners. She has given each one a name, a story, and a home.
She has sacrificed her personal life, her comfort, and her own meals — but never her mission. People call her the "Dog Mother of Punjab". We call her a messenger of God.
